Layer up...

September has turned cold so it is time to get layering. This is an essential fashion skill for the colder months and it's easy. Javelin has a few tips - if you were going to wear one top, wear four instead; when putting on a coat, think 'could I wear a gilet under this?'; never ever leave the house without at least six items of knitwear on and leave more time for dressing/undressing because all those layers are going to take longer. For tops to layer, see American Vintage, they do great basics in a rainbow of colours. For warm boots, try Sorel and Fly. Coats - Ted Baker, or for a more country casual look - Barbour. Team everything with skinny jeans (because they balance out the bulk of all the layers up top) And don't forget: Knits, Knits, Knits.

And we've not forgotten the boys. How about a velvet jacket from Scotch & Soda for a textured layer? Add chinos, shirt and scarf to complete. There, not difficult was it?

Back to Uni Style

It's back to University time! At Javelin, we are a little bit sad about this because it means we lose some of our summer staff that are going away to study, like Greg back off to Nottingham and Anna, who is just about to start at Leeds studying to be a doctor. Of course, we wish them the best of luck. To help them along their way we've put a few uni essentials together. Top of the list has to be the Scotch & Soda Iphone gloves - you can use any touch screen (phone, iphone, ipad etc.) without taking them off, which has to be the fashion/technical revolution of the century. Javelin thinks all gloves should be this way. To match, you'll need the Scotch & Soda Iphone case and some Marley Midnight Raver Earphones. The Marley range is designed with real music lovers in mind delivering quality sound in homage to Reggae legend Bob Marley. For the real College All-Star look, we think students will also love the G-Star Nashville Hoody and the Superdry Alumni Bag - big enough to hold a laptop and all your uni notes. Good luck everyone off to university!

Menswear Trend

For Autumn Winter Menswear this year, the Gentry look is back. From Burberry to Michael Bastian, designers were producing tweeds, tartans and cords in warm autumnal colours. As residents of Suffolk, the Country Gentlemen trend is very close to Javelin's heart so above we've put together a key outfit for the season. We have used Tommy Hilfiger Fallon Chinos with a Barbour Essential V-Neck Knit, a Diesel Spotari Shirt and a Scotch & Soda Cord Blazer. Then we accessorise with a Barbour Tartan Wool Cap and a Paolo Vandini Guard Boot. This look is great for the colder months because it is layered, practical and warm whilst also being fashionable and creating an air of gentlemanly class.
