With our Autumn Winter Stock hitting the Javelin stores right now, we just have one decision for you to make: Are you going to be Gothic or Girly? Sheers amd Lace are big news for the season but it is up to you how you want to wear them. The Vero Moda Kristi dress comes in cream or in black so it could go either way. On the catwalks Gucci and Chanel were all dark and mysterious - like the Little Mistress sheer dress. On the other hand, Jil Sander and Balmain were all soft and cute - like the Sonja top and Lovett jewellery. It's the ultimate fashion contrast, some catwalks were girly, some catwalks were gothic, but you cannot be both, so which is it going to be?

Next Season Now
It may be a bit early to be thinking about what to wear in 2013 but you can still add a bit of next season's trends to your Autumn Winter wardrobe. It is a fashion statement that says 'I'm so fashion forward, I'm next season now!' From London Fashion Week, Javelin loved Christopher Bailey's designs for Burberry Prorsum. In a spectacular show at London's Hyde park, the lucky few who were invited were treated to a 'peacock of colour.' Spotted on the FROW were Dita Von Teese, Anna Wintour (obviously) Andy Murray, SamCam and that bloke from Slumdog Millionaire. We noticed that the show was all about soft metallics, in any shade you can think of, with stand out accessories. Our eagle eye noticed a few models were clutching a pink transparent handbag that looks a lot like the Paul's Boutique Molly that we stock. Updating your accessories is an easy way to bring Spring/Summer trends to this season's clothes. If you are after something for the cold weather, why not go metallic with your knitwear with the WalG Foil Batwing Knit? Also, don't forget to vote for Javelin in the Velvet Awards - you don't have to vote in every category, just the ones where you see us!

Layer up...
September has turned cold so it is time to get layering. This is an essential fashion skill for the colder months and it's easy. Javelin has a few tips - if you were going to wear one top, wear four instead; when putting on a coat, think 'could I wear a gilet under this?'; never ever leave the house without at least six items of knitwear on and leave more time for dressing/undressing because all those layers are going to take longer. For tops to layer, see American Vintage, they do great basics in a rainbow of colours. For warm boots, try Sorel and Fly. Coats - Ted Baker, or for a more country casual look - Barbour. Team everything with skinny jeans (because they balance out the bulk of all the layers up top) And don't forget: Knits, Knits, Knits.
And we've not forgotten the boys. How about a velvet jacket from Scotch & Soda for a textured layer? Add chinos, shirt and scarf to complete. There, not difficult was it?

Menswear Trend
For Autumn Winter Menswear this year, the Gentry look is back. From Burberry to Michael Bastian, designers were producing tweeds, tartans and cords in warm autumnal colours. As residents of Suffolk, the Country Gentlemen trend is very close to Javelin's heart so above we've put together a key outfit for the season. We have used Tommy Hilfiger Fallon Chinos with a Barbour Essential V-Neck Knit, a Diesel Spotari Shirt and a Scotch & Soda Cord Blazer. Then we accessorise with a Barbour Tartan Wool Cap and a Paolo Vandini Guard Boot. This look is great for the colder months because it is layered, practical and warm whilst also being fashionable and creating an air of gentlemanly class.

Collars
This season, collars are massive. Not literally, of course, but they were everywhere on the catwalks. And the rule for collars this season: they must be embellished. Just look at the collar on the Dolce and Gabbana dress below, you can barely see the collar for baroque embroidery. So, how to get this essential look? You could bedazzle an old shirt ... or you can let Javelin source the best collars! Above are our top 3. Number 1 is the French Connection Moondust shirt dress. Number 2 is the Maison Scotch Series shirt and Number 3 is the Maison Scotch Zip Collar Knit.

Autumn Winter Update
We noticed a certain dark romance on the catwalks this Autumn Winter. Pucci went all out with floor length glamorous black, whilst Nina Ricci draped dark fabrics across a romantic silhouette. Seeing this trend, Javelin has put together an outfit for you to wear this weekend. We've picked the Vivienne Westwood Platoon Dress because of its softly draping shape and unusual printed on rips. It's perfect for nailing this trend. We've also matched the Ted Baker Clove Bag with Unisa Agnello Peep Toe Courts and an Aftershock necklace to accessorize the look.

Winter Trend Alert
Two key trends that have emerged from the fashion world this Autumn Winter are fur and roll necks. We've made like Michael Kors and teamed them up for a double fashion hit. We've put our b.young Vula Roll Neck Top with an Ichi Trok Gillet. We've also used Ichi Erqi Leggings and finished off the look with Coolway Polvina Boots and a Big Metal Necklace. Buy your roll necks and fur jackets this weekend (while the weather is hot) so when it turns cold you'll be the first in the latest winter trends. The roll neck is such a key piece for this season that you will wear it throughout the colder months and fur accents are the chicest way to bring a bit of apres ski glam to a winter's outfit.

Far East Fashion Revolution
![]() |
Far Eastern Influence - an essential trend for A/W 2012 |
This season is going to be all about the Far East, from Dries Van Noten's raid through the Chinese silk collection to Jason Wu's east meets west style dresses, expect to see lots of silk and oriental print for this Autumn Winter. Here at Javelin, we are loving the crane print on the Bombshell Bird Cap Sleeve Dress. This dress is the easiest way to wear the trend because it teams a classic hourglass cut dress with the traditional eastern print of crane birds. Cranes are lucky in Japanese culture - it is said that if you fold 1000 paper cranes you will be granted a wish by a crane, so get folding! Alternatively, you can just wear the dress and hope it brings you good luck because it'll certainly look good. We also like the colourful cherry blossom print on the Darling Arabella dress and tunic because it has a hand painted appearance. Team the tunic with a wide belt (or use a big piece of ribbon like we have) and some wide leg trousers for an on trend evening look.
